Exploring Son Doong Cave in Vietnam which has unique geological features

Son Doong Cave is located in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park in Vietnam. The largest cave in the world is estimated to have been formed around 2-3 million years ago. Even the age of the limestone in the National Park suggests the area as a whole may be more than 400 million years old. Son Doong Cave was formed from river water eroding limestone karst. In the process, it forms unique geological features from intricate formations of stalagmites and stalactites, to enormous underground chambers. It is about 9 kilometers long, and some parts of the cave are 200 meters high and 150 meters wide.

Apart from costs, because the journey to the cave takes several days, visitors must be in top condition, healthy and fit. Meanwhile, the best time to visit Son Doong Cave is during the dry season, usually between February and August. Weather conditions are better and access to the cave is also higher.
